Media Center Policies

Information and Technology Literacy Specialist Classes Schedule & Book Exchange

Kindergarten classes will visit the media center each week for book check out. Students are encouraged to check out one book each week. All books are due at the next media center visit.

First Grade - Students have ITL class on a 5 day rotation, and we will have book check out every week. 1st grade readers may check out two books on their designated book check out day.  If students have not finished reading one of their books, then they may renew books in the media center to avoid having an overdue.

2nd & 3rd Grades Students have ITL class on a 5 day rotation.  We will have book exchange every other class period, and readers may check out up to 3 books on the designated book check out day.  All books are due in 2 weeks. If students have not finished reading the book, they may renew books in the media center to avoid having an overdue.

4th & 5th Grades Students have ITL class on a 5 day rotation.  We will offer book exchange every other class period.  4th graders may check out up to 4 books and 5th graders may check out up to 5 books. All books are due every other media class or in 10 school days.  If students have not finished reading the book, they may renew the book in the media center to avoid having an overdue.

ebooks - Ebooks that are downloaded to your device have a checkout time of 7 days.  At the end of that time the book will disappear from your device. If you have not finished reading it, you may check it out again.  Ebooks that are not downloadable are not checked out, but simply read on line.

Parents and Community members
The books in our media collection are purchased to support educational goals and curriculum needs at Riverview, and are used heavily by our students and staff.  If you are interested in becoming a RVE Library patron, please contact me, Mrs Berg, for the Guidelines.

About Mrs. Berg

What happens when...

Overdues - If books are not returned on time as noted above, then they are considered overdue. Students may not check out or renew books with an overdue. Overdue notices are on iPad in the Destiny Discover App.  We will send Overdue notices via email when a book has been overdue for at least 3 weeks.   Students with books that are three or more weeks overdue, or consistently have overdues may result in an N (needs improvement) on report cards.

Damaged Books - If a book is damaged, please do not attempt to repair it at home. Simply return the book to the media center with a note. We will make repairs, and if necessary, assess a fine. Books that are beyond repair will be assessed the replacement cost.

Lost Books - If a book is misplaced, you will be billed for the replacement. If your student finds the book, please return it for a refund.  Students should let Mrs. Berg know with in two weeks of misplacing a book. Refunds are available through June 30th each year.

What do I do?   What do I do?
This library book is 42 Years overdue.
I admit that it's mine, But I can't pay the fine--
Should I turn it in,  Or hide it again?
